Coloring a Caucasian-ish image African American

If you have our newest Inspiration Book you might remember this card on page 31. I didn't have it in front of me when I colored the image below ~ but you can sure tell the artist is the same. I seriously need to get more looks under my belt. {smiles}
A couple of weeks ago I discovered that Betty {TAC Customer Service} was being featured on the Operation Write Home Blog (OWH) as a featured designer/contributor. I hadn't even heard of OWH ...!
While talking a few days ago Betty asked me how to make some of our images look African American, Latino ... skin tones other than Caucasian. Betty said she knew there were plenty of military men and women who were other races and she wanted to send cards that were designed just for them. My heart melted! Our Betty ... that's why we all LOVE her! {big smiles}
So this past weekend I buckled down and I've been practicing coloring our images to look like different races. It's been FUN and challenging! I'm still learning and this image below was my first attempt. I think he turned out darling though!
I am surprised that he doesn't 'read' as well as the Caucasian boy though ... I'm not sure why???! He looks so much cuter in person ... so that's something I need to figure out. Maybe just a bad camera day?! Or maybe it could be because the Caucasian boy has Glossy Accents all over him and that has intensified the color??! Who knows!
I have more colored images and am going to make them into cards ... and then show you. What a GREAT challenge! And if you'd like to learn more about Operation Write Home you can find them here OWH
Happy Paper Crafting!
