Guest Designer Christine Pennington and True Beauty

Jesus created the earth and all that is in it. His universe is remarkable in its complexity and beauty of design. Much of it is strange and we could ask, "Why did He do it this way?" The butterflies are one of His especially beautiful creations. The more we study them the more we see the wisdom, power, and abilities of Jesus the Creator and Designer.
Hello from Minnesota! I was so excited to be asked to be a guest designer this month, the cool part is we were able to pick the set we wanted to design with. It was an easy decision for me, because True Beauty is one of my favorite sets. I love butterflies and this set displays them wonderfully!
My first card was a second attempt--the first one I made was missing something, so I tried to alter it and it went south from there. As you can see I ran the base of the card through my crimper, I have not seen this done before, all though I am pretty sure I am not the first person to do it. It sure makes the card look classy! I sponged the edges with Momento Black Ink.
Supplies: Premium White C/S V290, Bazzill Raven V377, Bazzill Indigo V354, Momento Black S9100, Black & White Ribbon B222, Scor Bug F362, Silver Pearls (Michael's Crafts) & True Beauty T3047
Next up is a card I made for my supervisor at work, purple is her favorite color.
Supplies: White Caboodle V293, Bazzill Purples (from the Monochromatic Packs we used to carry), Momento Black S9100, Ribbon & Silver Pearls (Michael's Crafts), Yellow Brads, Matte Heritage F771, Copic Markers, Filled With Joy T3366 & True Beauty T3047.
Last, but certainly not least, my "signature" touch! I am known for my Red, Black and White color combos. My high school colors were Red & White so perhaps that is why I like them so much. {smiles}. This card is absolutely classical in person. I paper pieced the butterfly and puffed it out to give it dimension.
Supplies: White Caboodle V293, Scarlett C/S V237, Black C/S V215, Momento Black S9100, White Pearls & Black Ribbon (Michael's Crafts), True Beauty T3407.
One of my goals was to show that we don't always have to color our images. Sometimes a simple bold image is all you need.
I sure hope my cards inspire you to ink up your stamps! During the month of February True Beauty, Reg Retail Price is $19.95, but you can buy it for only $14.96 (25% off).
Many Blessings,

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christine! I have not seen a crimped base card before - love it! The coloring and yellow brad accent is wonderful. Red and black are your signature.
ReplyDeleteChristine~ your cards are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Christine! So many great details to learn here. I love that top one and I am reminded in number two that the sentiment can stand on it's own, without layers so that we can focus on the words.

Wow Christine--you are so brave, going first!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you did a GREAT job. Love that set and love all your samples. So the "inside" you were referring to was the inside of your first card, right? I love the yellow brads on the flowers in the purple card. All three of your samples are FULL of kewl ideas.
You did it and you did GREAT!!!! Sending warm Texas hugs!
Thank you everyone for all your sweet comments. If you play along, make sure you post a link to my blog too--I am giving away some T-coded stamps of your choice. ;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration Christine! I pulled out True Beauty and made a card. I'll share tomorrow when the light for photographing is better. Honestly, I find True Beauty to be intimidating. Thanks to you I pulled it out, inked it up and made a card. It didn't even hurt. ;) Great cards!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards! Your work is just so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat job as always, Christine. My favorite is the purple card, which I'm sure took you the longest to do.
