#98 Owls!
Tuesday, March 18, 2014
Do you ever look at a stamp set and think 'there is NO WAY, NO WAY I'd EVER
use that set'! Yep, I raised my hand. Take this set for instance,
Owls, the only reason I'm using it is because it came in this Hostess
Collection shown below.
BIG SIGH. Can I tell you how much I LOVE this set now? It's crazy how often I say that. Seriously ... it's one of my new favorites!
So this is one in a series of cards I'm making for kids. Of course ... the card you see here isn't what I finished up with ... I had to keep adding more ... so keep reading!

I got this FABULOUS Hostess Collection for only $44.03. AMAZING! I have used the arrows and now I've even used the Owls! {smiles}
Notice the frame that I wrote Megan in ... this did have an image
connected to it that said thanks. It was WAY easy to cut the thanks
out. I can still use it with this stamp so no damage done.
I am a sucker for personalized cards! Especially when it comes to kids ... who doesn't want to see their name in lights?

The cardstock at the top of this card is hiding my Copic markers that
seeped through. I am using Copic Expressit ... and the ink does go
through. It's an easy fix though.
And you know what a hoarder I am ... I don't use my favorite things without good reason ... well ... cards for kids is always a good reason! And I LOVE how this ribbon from CTMH really jazzes up the inside of this card! I also LOVE that it is adhesive backed ... AWESOMEness! Talk about a clean finish!

My Copic friends will know right away that this is Copic cardstock
simply by the way it photographs. It always has a subtle, glimmery
sheen on camera. So everything is colored with my Copics ... colors
numbers are all coming up. I do believe my blues are glowing in these
photos ... just an FYI. And even though I have a Cricut cartridge that
will cut the shape of the Megan frame ... I just hand cut it. It was
simple enough for even the likes of me. {smiles}
Thanks to my friend Avis for labeling the ends of my Ciao's for me! I
really do LOVE that! I also used a Copic Liner 0.5 to write Megan's
name.
You may think that I used a strange combo of greens and yellow greens ... well ... I did. I LOVE a cheerful foundation of lemony yellow. I get that from YG00 and YG01. They keep the happy in my green palette. And YG25 is simply for a touch of depth. As is BG05 and V06.

After I had shot this card and uploaded it to my PC I realized what was
missing. HELLO! BLING! This is a get well card for a 14 year old! I
can't overdose on happy!
So I pulled out my Signo White Gel Pen and my Clear Sparkle Gel Pen. LOVE! I only used the Signo to dot the eyes of the owls. Do you see it? Scroll up to look at a before and after. It's just a little touch that adds yet another layer of depth on basically a one layer card.

The sparkle pen is so soft in person ... on camera and in the sunlight
... WOW! you can really spot its BAM! {yes, it has BAM}
There you have it. A set I've fallen head over heels in LOVE with!
