You may remember this card from a while back ... #149 Happy Bird
You may also remember ... I made WAAAAY to many mistakes and wanted to re-do the design ... so ... here goes. Still not perfect ... but it is what it is. {smiles}
I thought it would be fun to play with my Twin Touch Markers and try something new ...
so I tried giving my owl a new kind of texture. It's interesting ... that's about all I can say. I paper pieced the bird, however, I added SO.MUCH.GLITTER I lost much of the detail. Noted. And because the more colorful pinks are harder to work with ... I needed to use those. You only get better by continually practicing. And did you notice the owl's face? I tried to do something interesting with the area between his eyes. I'll keep trying.
Here is the original design ... with an overworked face. Poor little guy. It happens though.
What I DO want to point out ... are the yellow tones. Take a closer look! That's the only reason I'm showing this card ... below ... let's face it ... I butchered this baby! {smiles}
ABOVE I have the original card colored ONLY with the Golden Yellow and the Marigold. It is SO bright.
The second time around I wanted to experiment and see if I could tone down the brightness
of the yellow and make it coordinate better with my Brushed Papers. TADA! Isn't the result AWESOME! I colored the image exactly the same EXCEPT this time ... I went over the yellow areas with my Twin Touch YR26 Pastel Peach Marker. What an amazing difference. This is WHY you need to play with your markers ... you learn stuff all the time! I hope you've been inspired and learned something new today! How To: Masking Tutorial
