There's a new girl on Vera Lane and she is AWESOME!  The Mermaid joined the Floral Park Collection {my favorite} this week and she is so nice to work with!
She's gorgeous, isn't she!  The sayings are also perfect in this collection ... both for journals and cards.
As soon as I saw this collection I knew I wanted to try and create a watercolor journal layout.  For this watercolor I used my Peerless Watercolors ... and I did LOTS of experimenting.
This darling little mermaid is my first NUDE!  She has a bikini top in the set ... but I kinda' adore her in her mermaid-suit.
I used my Posca White Marker to doodle over my black printed lines.  I also sprayed a few squirts of Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz on each page.  The sunlight in these shots REALLY picks up that sparkle.  I also spattered the finished piece with watered down white acrylic paint.
In the background, on each page, I painted in a couple schools of fish ... just for interest.  I also added my date stamp ... with the arrow ... something I love.
The seawood by the treasure chest is an image from Whimsical Mermaid.  I LOVE that my Vera Lane images work well with each other.
 This little gal is such a cutie!  I LOVE the fish over her eye ... such a fun and whimsical touch!
I worked with my favorite Peerless colors on this layout.  These yummy colors work so nice together and they're interesting ... I LOVE that!
When I started this next layout it was for a card ... I LOVED my little mermaid so much I decided she had to go in my journal ... so I'd have her forever.  {smiles}
My images are printed on book paper and colored with my Copics.  I then grabbed an old dictionary and pulled the 'Mermaid' and 'ocean' pages for this layout.
I used my lightest aquas to highlight the 'Mermaid' and 'ocean' entries in the dictionary.  I found this fabulous Heidi Swapp paper (at Tuesday Morning) and it was the perfect addition to this layout.
 I also spritzed this layout with my Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz and boy did it sparkle in the sunshine!
I don't usually embellish my journal layouts with 3D elements, but, I just had to add pearls to this layout.  I don't feel like this layout is complete yet so I may be adding to it before long?!
