#304 Colorful Kokeshi Dolls | Vera Lane Studio
Thursday, July 06, 2017
It's Thursday ... my day to share in the Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group. These GORGEOUS new Kokeshi Dolls from Vera Lane Studio have stolen my heart! I had to follow my girlie girl instinct and do a colorful & delicious layout with these little cuties.
These little darlings are so much fun to color and paper piece! They're also super easy to fussy cut!
I had already put this paper background in my journal and was just waiting for images to use with it. When I saw these little dolls I knew they'd be perfect. These little loves came together quickly with some simple paper piecing and fussy cutting.
This little gal might be my favorite ... smiles! I LOVE her pink hair and outfit ... she's so darling!
I tried to NOT use black on the page (other than the printed images and saying) but I had to. I feel like the black helps to finish the look.
I didn't get any great shots of the saying ... OOPS! It says:
Dear friends,
no matter how we find them,
are as essential to our lives
as breathing in and breathing out.
~LOIS WYSE
I was having so much fun with these little gals that I decided to make my Vera Lane ATC Swap Cards with this same set.
These little cards measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" each. I kept them pretty simple since the background paper is full of energy.
I had TONS of fun with their hair ... I love going outside my box and using colors I wouldn't necessarily use for hair.
I LOVE these little gals with their traditional black hair as well. It really makes the colors of their outfits pop. So ... these are my three swap cards. I did use the other gal in the set ... and then I touched the black marker on her face and couldn't get it off ... UGH! No gray faces allowed. LOL! That's why she didn't make her debut on my blog this week.
This card is inspired by a card that another design team member, Stephanie Eaton, made and shared in the VLS Facebook Group. I loved the simplicity of it. For the background, I used a thick washi tape that I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby. It's a tape that you color, however, I like the black and white. Three strips of it and my card base was covered. LOVE!
I added rhinestones, ribbon and a saying to finish this card. Of course, you can see that I used my White Posca Marker on all of these little gals. If I'd had more time I think I would have doodles even more ... it's addictive!
I'm so glad I get to share these little cuties with you today ... I'm so in love with them! I encourage you to swing by the VLS Facebook Group and check out even more great makes with them.
xoxo,
Mischelle
