#341 2019 Faith Journal Cover & The Premier of Potter

Welcome back! This is the cover of my newest journal ~ my 2019 Faith Journal featuring Ninette from Vera Lane Studio. But before I share more details about my journal ... let me introduce you to the newest collection on Vera Lane ... Potter.
I thought Mr. Potter would make a great bookmark ... perfect for holding your place in his books, right?! Bookmarks are always at the top of my list ... I'm a reader and I never seem to have enough of these. {smiles}
I used papers from Simple Stories to quickly put this together. I LOVE how easy it is to use 6x6 paper pads for quick projects ... like cards, mini albums, and bookmarks!
Check out Potter and Potter's Props in Vera Lane Studio's Etsy Store. I like each of the sayings in this collection also ... so many possibilities.
Now back to my Faith Journal. I always start a new journal by personalizing the cover ... I need something that draws me to it. Above is the AFTER and below is the BEFORE.
The before doesn't inspire me so much! {smiles} Looking back thru my stack of journals ... I have to say that the covers are one of my favorite things about them.
This Faith Journal began with a coloring page. I found this book on sale for $1.99 at Christian Book ... one of my most FAVORITE places to shop online. (WHY DIDN'T I ORDER MORE than ONE?!) I thought the pages would be great to use in my Faith Journal and for my faith-based projects.
So my journal cover began with part of a page from this book.
I love the cross peeking through with the flowers and leaves ... it's subtle ... and still meaningful to me. The image I used is Ninette from Vera Lane Studio. If you've seen my work ... you know I gravitate towards these quirky Vera girls.
I LOVE that Ninette also comes with some precolored dresses ... as do all of the ladies in the Filles de la Mode collection.
Such a great song ... LOVE the words and they obviously speak to me. After this song finished I was surprised to hear one of my favorite Zach Williams songs start playing ... but a version I wasn't familiar with. WOW! This version has been filmed in Harding Prison ... and did I ever get goosebumps!
Nothing will get me off track quicker than a good song ... LOL! Music is such a great source for creative inspiration and I tap into it often.
I went with a monochromatic feel for this cover ... a look that I find soothing. It is SO.MUCH.FUN playing with mixed media. One of my favorite things has to be the spritzing of inks with water to make the colors run. It's incredibly relaxing. Good, clean artsy fun.
I've already started filling this journal up with stuff that makes my heart happy ... and I'm looking forward to sharing.
Have a GREAT weekend and God bless,
Mischelle

For this cover, I went with the lyrics from a King and Country song ... The Proof of Your Love. These nine little words are one of my 2019 mantras. I am so inspired by music ... and I prefer Christian because I constantly need to feed myself words of life and encouragement. Music is a staple at our house and in my studio, I can easily get lost in my projects ... and belting out songs to God. It's this type of studio time that breathes life into my soul.
I wanted to share the King & Country song that inspired this cover and I just watched this video for the first time ... it's got an unexpectedish (my newest word) feel ...
