#356 Watercolor Journal Layout and Cards featuring Vera Lane Studio

Friday, March 29, 2019

Fairy Bunny has arrived on Vera Lane and she is DARLING!  I've been in a watercolor state-of-mind lately and decided it was time to play with my Brea Reese Glitter Watercolor Inks.  And ... once I started ... I just didn't want to stop!
For me, there is definitely a learning curve with these watercolors.  Working with the sparkles and liquid watercolor is different than working with pan palettes.  I'm keeping these out so I can continue practicing and learn how to use these vibrant, gorgeous hues.
Layering these inks was interesting.  It worked better for me when I mixed colors on my palette before applying to my image.  I felt like I overworked these cards due to my lack of experience with these inks ... but with more practice ... I'll get there.  {smiles}

When I first saw this collection it was love at first sight!  Fairy Bunny makes me smile every time I see her.
I knew I wanted to play with my Brea Reese inks so I printed these images larger and kept everything simple.
I only have a handful of colors to work with so I did lots of experimenting with color mixing and layering.
I LOVE how the colors mixed together on her dress and am looking forward to playing with this vibrant palette again.

So much fun!  And my watercoloring continued ...
How fun is the journal layout?!  When I saw these little houses I knew they were waiting for a rainbow.  {smiles}  And, although this layout is colored with Copic markers ... it features this darling Watercolor Fairy from Vera Lane Studio.
For this layout, I used Little Houses and Watercolor Fairy.
I finished this month's ago, however, I couldn't decide on a saying.  I made myself pick one and just went with it.  Sayings are hard!  LOL!
My images are colored with Copics and have been spritzed with clear sparkle Shimmer Spritz.  I've also highlighted with my white Posca marker.
Those little flecks on the color are the shimmer spritz.  I also used white Nuvo drops on the polka dotted dress.  It's nice and 3d but doesn't really read that here.
I LOVE these cactus images!  It's been so long since I've played with my watercolors ... I decided it was time to pull them out and give them a go.
I enjoyed playing with these paints.  I used a black pen to darken up some of the lines that faded after painting and I used a white Posca marker to add highlights.  Such a simple card ... and so therapeutic to create!

Thanks for stopping by ... have a blessed weekend,
